I had just arrived in Canada, my head was seemingly calm, but under the surface, it was racing with nervousness. I was in a distant land, a land of cold snow, hot coffee & a seemingly endless supply of Amanda's relative's to meet. But the nervousness of what I had come to do dwarfed everything else. It was the day before i was proposing, & the ring had not yet arrived, it was coming from New York & was supposed to be here the day before !! I was freaking out, but my engagement support team over in Australia (Morgan & Sara) who helped me and Amanda find the ring in the first place, were encouraging me that she loves me & it's not about the ring, Mike even emailed me from Australia with his story of how he proposed without the real ring, because it didn't make it in time & how Jess (His wife) had loved it just the same. So i was encouraged as i went to sleep that night.
The next day I was out at the mall with Ron (Amanda's Dad) & Amanda, and Ron got a call from Myrna, (Amanda's Mum/Mom) & he quietly (so that Amanda couldn't hear) told me it had arrived !! I later found out that when Ron & Myrna Called Fedex the lady there called the driver who had the package & told him what it had inside & that it had to get there before 2:00 !! So I was elated !! quietly rejoicing in the shoe store in the mall, but still nervous about actually having to do the deed the next day !!
The next day, i awoke in Kelowna after we drove up the day before. I was quietly trying to keep it together, Ron told Amanda that they booked her & i tickets for a winery tour that day, so she thought nothing of it & we went along to the Mission Hill winery around 1pm. The tour was fantastic, it was snowing that day beautiful flakes of snow, & there was only two other couple's on the tour. We went into the cellar & then up to the tasting room for some nice wine. after we tasted the last bottle, the lady, Elisabeth from Poland, announced that i had an announcement, and so i got on my knee and asked her to be my wife. It was the biggest high ever, the adrenaline when my knee hit the floor was unreal !! Amanda went all red & said yes !! Then Ron & Myrna came in with a huge bunch of pink roses & we the rest was a blur of excitement as we hugged and kissed and took many photo's.

Her Story
on a cold winter's morn, the eve before christmas she awoke feeling as though there was something special in the air. she couldn't quite put her finger on it so she wrote it off as christmas "fuzzies" and went on to enjoy the day. a little later that morning her parents told her and her boyfriend (who was visiting from australia for the holiday season) that as a christmas gift they had bought them two tickets for a wine tour at a beautiful winery on the local mountain for later that afternoon. she knew this was a great idea and was so excited she couldn't wait for the time to come.
around 1pm that afternoon they were dropped off at the winery to enjoy the aromas and tastes of so many world renown canadain wines. the tour was amazing and with the snow covered ground it was a beautiful afternoon. nearing the end of the tour it came time to taste the wine. elizabeth, their tour guide had four wines out to taste each one very specific and delicious. not a moment later elizabeth began to say that it was a "special" tour this day because there was an australian with them, so they were going to taste a "special" wine. she went on to say that this australian gentleman had something that he wanted to say and winked at him.
she was turned toward him as he proceeded to tell her that..."since the day he told her he loved her, he knew that she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with". he then bent down on one knee, pulled out the most PERFECT ring she had ever seen and asked those four precious words she had been longing to hear..."will you marry me?" as it all set in she realized she needed to respond, and so of course she said "yeah"! they embraced and he placed the ring on her finger. her parents then entered the room from where they had been watching with two dozen long stemmed pink roses! they were all able to taste the wine and then for the next half hour snap photos so they would be abel to remember the most...."perfect proposal".
